Britax Boulevard CS Click & Safe Convertible Car Seat, Davenport Review

Overall, this is an excellent car seat and we're glad we chose it. We chose Britax because they continue to be a leader in child safety (we did considerable research). And we chose this specific model because of the superior side impact protection. However, I don't find the Click & Safe (CS) feature of this seat worth the extra money over the standard model. An overview of pros and cons as I see them:

PROS
* Superior protection/safety
* Well designed seat
* Easy installation - the directions are attached to the seat so you can't lose them and are easy to follow
* Durable fabric used
* Decent padding for child's comfort
* Strap height very easy to adjust as child grows
* Easy to buckle and unbuckle - easy in/out for the child
* The cowmooflage pattern is pretty cool (and works for both boys and girls)

CONS
* CS feature doesn't seem accurate - this is the biggest con. After buckling the child in, you pull the strap to create the right amount of tension on the 5-point harness. The CS feature is supposed to click when you have the straps tight enough. However, our seat clicks while there is still too much give (over an inch) in the shoulder straps, and is even less accurate when she's wearing a winter coat. Straps should be snug (not tight) to the body. If we were to stop when the seat clicked, the straps would be too loose. In my opinion, the CS feature is not worth the extra money.
* The straps sometimes get twisted in the harness buckle and it takes a couple minutes to straighten them out (not a big issue).
* Price is higher than a lot of competing brands, but Britax is a leader in safety.

I did extensive research on carseats prior to purchasing this one. It is more expensive than most other carseats but as you know you get what you pay for. All carseats are required to meet certain federal standards but I chose this one because of the Britax repuatation, their website and other customer reviews on this site. The carseat is rather large and heavy. We have a honda odyssey and this fits absolutely PERFECT in both the bucket seats. We have also had to use this in our tiny Honda Civic. It fit in the middle just fine. You would not be able to put this behind the seats in the Civic, so if you have more than one child and a smaller car, you will need a smaller seat if you are using this as rear facing. Forward facing would not be a problem. The BEST feature about this carseat is how long you can use it rear facing. That was very important to us. You can use this much longer than other seats rearfacing. The seat is VERY easy to install and we were able to get an extremely tight fit. The seat belt clips on the side stop the seat from tilting. We had problems with our daughters other carseat doing that and had to reinstall all the time to get it straight again. The straps are very nice and do not get tangled. Its a great seat and we are looking forward to getting much use out of it. Its comfortable and sturdy. We have had this seat for almost 3 months now and I am glad to have spent the extra $$ for this one. Also, always take your seat to a certified inspection center where they will ensure its installed properly for FREE. 90% of people do NOT have their seats installed correctly and/or do not put their children in the seat properly. This is the most important "item" (if I can say it like that) in your vehicle...do it right!! Good LUCK. I know it wore me out looking for the right seat. Our daughter is 11 months old and weighs 17 pounds.

I just bought this car seat yesterday. My car is small as it is a Honda Civic LX 4 door Sedan. It fits beautifully. Granted I am only 5'3 so I don't need much room but my seat can go back a bit if needed, plus I recline my seat so it would still work for a tall person. It actually takes up less room then my infant carrier. I don't install my car seats until after I have a police officer or fire fighter install them for me first. It took him 5 mins literally. Now I know if I need to swap cars at some point how to do it myself in no time. I am just not a fan of trying to do it myself and getting frustrated. So since they do them all the time they can show me much faster how to do it. I recommend this car seat for anyone that wants their child to be super safe yet comfortable. My son would be kind of fussy in his infant carrier and it was a good one. With The advocate he falls asleep immediately and doesn't wake up for a while. It may be pricey but shop around on the web, look for coupons and free shipping. You can find a good deal on it. Plus, your child is so worth it and will use it for a good 4-5 years. Well, worth the investment. Honestly I don't think it is super big like some are complaining about. Fits great in my Honda civic and I have another child in a booster seat as well. Advocate in the middle, booster on the passenger side. Having the car seat in the middle is the safest. If you don't recline your seat like I do when you drive you can put it behind you. I just like to lean back while driving and since the middle is the best placement it works for us. It is the best car seat I could find and I did my research online and in person. Get it!!!!

My daughter outgrew her infant carrier by weight before she was 5 months old so we switched her to the Britax Boulevard RF. At around 14 months, she could not longer fit RF so we did FF and have never looked back. She loves the seat and I love the safety and convenience it provides. Even at 3 years old, she still falls asleep in the car; I would too if I had a seat this comfortable!

Pros:
The side Impact panels prevent her head from flopping all over the place,seat cover is easy to remove and washes great,built solid, fabric is good quality, harness easy to adjust for bulky winter coats and do not have to unhook the seat, head support easy to move up and down. Install is pretty simple once you get use to it (takes me about 2 minutes now),recline is simple, plush and very padded.

Cons: I will agree with Abigail on the EPS,its flimsy for such an important feature.. I accidentally cracked it while removing the cover to clean (called Britax and they replaced it free of charge) and the seta itself is VERY Bulky and heavy so buy another seat when you travel. Also no cup holders but maybe thats not so bad if it keeps my car clean.

Lastly,yes this seat is expensive, but well worth it for the safety and great features. I really have just minor complaints, I like the company and their costumer service and we love this seat. Would buy again in a heartbeat!
